It’s not just a movie. It’s an expression that is often used to describe the concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead. But with all that’s going on in the world these days, it’s a little it's hard to believe when a good deed really does come along out of the blue. Surprisingly, I’m happy to say that I got to witness the concept in action this past week. I was photographing a wedding couple in downtown Nashville not too far from the Union Rescue Mission. I was standing on the edge of the curb slowly edging my way into the street when a man pulled up in a black Mercedes convertible. He slowed down and called me over to his car. I thought he was going to give me grief for almost being in the road. But instead, he flashed a rolled up $100 bill. He leaned over, stuck out his hand and said "Tell the happy couple that this is a gift from a stranger." And a few seconds later he was gone.
I gave the money to the couple and I have to admit I was starting to tear up myself as I noticed them doing the same. It’s amazing to think that there is still people out there that are so generous and giving.
Now, here’s your chance. If you love this story and would like to pay it forward yourself, why not consider doing something for the Union Rescue Mission. Here’s a link to donate.
Thanks for reading, and thanks for the constant inspiration Nashville.
